WESTON, W.Va. -- A Clarksburg man faces kidnapping and child abuse charges after allegedly trying to flee with his daughter before a planned visit by Child Protective Services workers.

Court documents say 30-year-old Joshua Renner choked his 21-month-old daughter, threatened to kill her, and tripped and fell on her while fleeing.

Media outlets say Lewis County sheriff's deputies also charged Renner and the child's mother with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia earlier this week.

Twenty-eight-year-old Katherine McGee also is accused of child abuse or neglect creating risk of injury for allegedly driving with her four children in a car that contained used and exposed needles.
