WAYNE, W.Va. -- A Wayne County jury deliberated about half an hour Thursday before convicting Clinton Douglas Skeens of murdering a former Wayne High School football coach.

Skeens will face life in prison with no chance of parole after a jury recommended no mercy, according to the Wayne County prosecutor's office.

Skeens was charged with murder for stabbing former coach Jess "Scott" Jarrell to death on Dec. 31, 2010. Jarell, 73, was stabbed 43 times at his home.

Skeens' trial began this week after being postponed in January. That month, Jarrell's son and son-in-law had to be subdued by police and removed from a court hearing after trying to attack Skeens during proceedings.
