Beckley man slain with bow and arrow

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Police said a Raleigh County man fatally shot another man with a bow and arrow during an altercation early Friday morning.

Deputies were called to a home on Carmella Street in Prosperity at about 1:30 a.m., according to a news release issued by the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department.

Police discovered the body of Christopher Saunders Jr., 23, of Beckley.

An investigation determined the homeowner shot Saunders in the stomach with a bow and arrow during an altercation involving multiple people, the news release said. Police have not released the homeowner's name.

The death is related to an altercation that occurred Thursday night at an apartment on Industrial Drive in Beckley, the news release said.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide, but no charges have been filed. All individuals involved in the altercation are in custody.
