Beckley work-release escapee recaptured

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Authorities arrested a Beckley Correctional Center Inmate who they said escaped Thursday while on work release.

Michael Sampson, 29, was captured Friday night in the Cabell Heights area of Beckley, State Police said. Sampson was reported missing Thursday evening when he didn't return to the facility from his job at a fast-food restaurant.

Sampson is serving a burglary sentence from Harrison County.
