CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies have identified a man who was stabbed in the throat at a party in Elkview early Sunday.

Claude Fred Hensley, 51, of Clendenin, got into a fight with another person at the party on Blue Creek at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Lt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Crosier said the man kept hitting Hensley as Hensley was trying to leave, then reached and cut Hensley's throat with a folding pocket knife.

Hensley was taken to CAMC General Hospital, where he was in critical condition on Monday, Crosier said.

Crosier said the investigation is continuing, and charges may be filed soon.
