JEFFERSON, W.Va. -- A woman died Wednesday night after being struck by a hearse in the middle of U.S. 60 in Jefferson.
Capt. Bryan Robbins of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said the victim, in her 30s, had been seen in the area before the accident and appeared to be inebriated. She was hit just before 9 p.m. by a 1986 Pontiac Parisienne hearse driven by Michael Jones, 45, of South Charleston. Jones was heading east at the time
No citations have been issued against the driver, who appeared to be properly operating the vehicle, Robbins said. The name of the victim is not yet being released.
