HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Huntington police said they acted on a tip Monday and apprehended a Michigan man before he attempted to rob a credit union at gunpoint.

A tipster told police a man was planning to rob the First Priority Federal Credit Union on Virginia Avenue, in Huntington, according to a news release issued by the Huntington Police Department.

Police set up a lookout and watched for the suspect, Andred Clinton Davis, 32, of Detroit. Davis was attempting to enter the building but then ran from police along Seventh Avenue West when he was arrested, according to the release.

Davis was charged with first-degree armed robbery and fleeing. He is being held in Western Regional Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail.
