Man reports robbery on West Side

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A man's relative robbed him at gunpoint, taking $15 in cash in an incident on Charleston's West Side, he told police.

The robbery was reported around 6 p.m. Saturday.

The victim is mentally challenged and, according to police, was intoxicated at the time and not sure where the incident occurred.

"He didn't know if it was the Drug Emporium or underneath the [Patrick Street] Bridge [or the] Liquor Mart," Lt. C.E. Sisson of Charleston Police Department, said.

Police have obtained a surveillance video of the two men together, Sisson said.

"[The victim] knows who [the suspect] is and he is known to the Charleston Police Department as well," Sisson said.

Because of the inconsistencies about the location of the incident, police wrote a report about the incident but have not arrested the suspect, Sisson said.

The incident remains under investigation.
