WEST UNION, W.Va. -- A Doddridge County teenager accused of killing his parents and sister will be charged as an adult.

Media outlets say Doddridge County Circuit Court Judge Jim Sweeney transferred 16-year-old Joseph S. Spencer to adult status Wednesday. Prosecutor Brooke Fitzgerald requested the transfer.

Police say Spencer's parents, Frederick Spencer and Dixie Spencer, and his 9-year-old sister, Patience Spencer, were fatally shot at the family's home in West Union on Sept. 3.
