Skeletal remains in Ona not recent, Cabell sheriff says
Advertiser

ONA, W.Va. -- Authorities are investigating human skeletal remains discovered on a hillside in Cabell County.

Sheriff Tom McComas tells media outlets that the remains appear to have been at the scene for a long time.

A resident found a skull Sunday while surveying the property in Ona. He called McComas at home to report the discovery.

McComas says investigators cordoned off the hillside and found other evidence during an initial search. He declined to provide details.

The search was expected to resume Monday.

McComas says it's too early to say whether a crime was committed.
