MILL CREEK, W.Va. -- One student died after a fight at a high school football game in Mill Creek, police say.

The incident happened around 7:10 p.m. Friday outside George Ward Elementary School in Mill Creek, according to a dispatcher with the West Virginia State Police. The elementary school is next ro Tygarts Valley High School, where a football game was about to take place when the fight occurred.

Two male high school students were involved in the fight. One of the boys died of his injuries and another was taken to a juvenile detention center.

The dispatcher did not say how the boy died, but multiple media outlets have reported he died of a stab wound.

Names of the two boys have not been released.

A hearing is set for Monday for the suspect in the incident.
