POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. -- Police in Mason County are investigating a slaying and an attempted suicide. According to multiple media reports from the scene, a woman is dead and a man is in the hospital after an incident in Point Pleasant around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators told WSAZ-TV the woman was found dead from several gunshot wounds and a man was found alive. Police say he shot the woman and then turned the gun on himself. He was taken to Pleasant Valley Hospital, according to media reports.

Phone calls to the Point Pleasant Police Department were not answered Sunday evening.
