CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police said someone left a dead pigeon and a note at the home of Charleston Mayor Danny Jones.

At about 8 a.m. Friday, Jones discovered a package at the end of his driveway, according to Charleston Police Sgt. Bobby Eggleton.

Eggleton said the pigeon had been shot and was gift-wrapped and placed beside a note addressed to Jones.

Detectives collected the package and are examining it for evidence, he said. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call Charleston Police's Criminal Investigation Division at 304-348-6480.
