POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. -- Point Pleasant police are investigating reports of cats in a neighborhood being tortured and killed.

The Point Pleasant Register says it's received reports of two separate incidents in which cats were abducted and tortured.

Councilman Allen Moran said during a recent council meeting that a constituent told him dead cats were dumped into the Ohio River and appeared to have been tortured.

Mayor Brian Billings says a police officer has been assigned to investigate the reports.
