CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Kanawha County grand jury indicted two men Thursday in connection with the murder of another man on the West Side in September.

Daniel O'Keith Little and Jarod Edward Washington, both 29, each face charges of attempted first-degree robbery, conspiracy and murder for the shooting death of Roy Chambliss.

On Sept. 10, Charleston police responded to a call that a man had been shot at 403 Piccadilly St. and found Chambliss, 40, with gunshot wounds to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His roommate, Natalie Sprouse, 20, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm.

Sprouse told police that Little and Washington came to the home a few days earlier and tried to sell two guns, but were told Chambliss and Sprouse did not have any money. When they went back to the house in a second attempt to sell the weapons, Washington went into a bathroom and reemerged with a gun, which he pointed at Sprouse, according to police.

Little pulled his own gun and ordered Sprouse, Chambliss and another man into the bathroom. He told Sprouse to open a safe in the home. A struggle ensued and Little shot Chambliss; Washington shot Sprouse, hitting her in the arm, and also Chambliss, according to police.

Washington also faces a malicious wounding charge for allegedly shooting Sprouse.

In all, the grand jury indicted 66 defendants. An indictment is not a finding of fact, just an accusation.
