Ivydale, W.Va. -- A Huntington man and a 17-year-old boy broke into a man's home, tied him up and beat him over several hours early Sunday morning, police say.

Police arrested Shane Stephen Holbrook, 24, and the juvenile and charged them with kidnapping, burglary, wanton endangerment with a firearm, assault and conspiracy.

Around midnight, Holbrook and the juvenile allegedly broke into the home of Holbrook's mother's boyfriend on Moore Fork Road in Ivydale, Trooper Scott Bass of the West Virginia State Police, said.

They tied up the victim and beat him for around six hours, Bass said. The suspects also fired several rounds near the man's head, Bass said.

The victim had multiple cuts and contusions where he had been struck in the head and face with a crow bar, Bass said. He also had burn marks on his wrists from having his hands bound together, he said.

When the suspects attempted to leave, their vehicle was stuck in the mud, Bass said. Holbrook and the teenager forced the man at gunpoint to use his truck to free their vehicle, Bass said.

Once the vehicle was freed, the victim went to a neighbor for help. The neighbor drove him to the state police detachment.

The victim's girlfriend, Holbrook's mother, was at the house with her two children at the time of the incident, Bass said. Another juvenile, the 17-year-old suspect's girlfriend, also a juvenile, was at the house at the time of the incident as well, Bass said.

Holbrook and the juvenile were arrested in Teays Valley, 20 minutes after Bass issued a "be on the lookout" for the two, he said.

Holbrook had a warrant for his arrest in Florida and had been on the run, Bass said. The man also has an extensive criminal history, Bass said.

"He's got a rap sheet as long as my arm," Bass said. "I think when they faxed it to me it was 29 pages."

The victim refused treatment, Bass said.

Holbrook is currently being held at Western Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

The juvenile is held at the James H. "Tiger" Morton Juvenile Center in Dunbar, Bass said.

Both were under the influence, possibly of methamphetamine or bath salts, when they were arrested, Bass said.

They will be arraigned Monday morning, Bass said.
