SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Boone County sheriff's deputy is on paid administrative leave following an incident in South Charleston on Sunday.

Boone County Sheriff Rodney Miller said a deputy pulled up to the One Stop convenience store in Southridge Centre in his sheriff's cruiser at about 2 p.m. and allegedly spotted his wife with another man in her car.

Initial reports were that the deputy rammed the other car, but Miller said he has reviewed surveillance video and it appears that the deputy only pulled up very close to the other vehicle and hit it with his door when he got out of the cruiser.

The deputy then allegedly got into an argument with his wife and the other man, Miller said. He said a scuffle occurred, and South Charleston police were called.

"The deputy didn't appear to do anything to his wife," Miller said, "but there was a little scuffle with the other male."

Both South Charleston police and Miller said none of those involved in the altercation want to pursue criminal charges in the matter. Miller said the deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending the conclusion of an internal investigation.

Miller would not name the deputy involved.
