ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- A woman was killed in a house fire in St. Albans Friday afternoon, police said.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Department Capt. Bryan Robbins said the blaze broke out at a trailer at 431 2nd Ave. N. on the west side of St. Albans shortly after 1 p.m. Friday.

Volunteer firefighters from the Jefferson and Lakewood departments responded. The blaze was completely involved when they arrived on scene, according to Metro 911 dispatchers.

A woman was pulled from the blaze in critical condition and Robbins said paramedics detected a faint pulse and attempted life-saving efforts, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman's name was not released at this time pending family notification.
