SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A small fire broke out in a Dow-owned building at the West Virginia Regional Technology Park in South Charleston shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The incident happened around 8:45 a.m. at Dow's Research and Development Facility.

"Emergency services from Dow Chemical and the city of South Charleston responded immediately and did a great job at addressing the situation," said Trish Thompson, a spokeswoman for Dow's West Virginia operations.

No one was injured, she said. The company is still assessing the damage and officials do not yet know the cause, she said.

Tyler London, Dow West Virginia operations leader, thanked South Charleston first responders.

"The response was excellent and this reinforces the importance of having good plans, training and communication during these types of events," London said.

The company is investigating the fire, he said.
