Armed gunmen sneak into home outside St. Albans

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- Armed gunmen snuck into a home outside St. Albans early this morning, but were scared off before they could steal anything.

Capt. B.C. Robbins of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Deparment said Taylor Womack, 18, of Maryland Avenue outside St. Albans, told deputies that he, his girlfriend, their child and another woman were asleep at their home at about 4:30 a.m. when two masked men apparently snuck into the house through an unlocked window. Both men brandished small-caliber handguns.

Robbins said the child was able to sneak out of the house and call 911. The suspects then fled, firing at least one shot at the house that went through the outside wall and lodged in the bedroom. No one was hurt, and nothing was taken from the house.

Despite wearing bandanas over part of their faces, Robbins said Womack believes he knows the men. The case has been turned over to the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation.
