LOGAN, W.Va. -- Logan County authorities have issued a warrant for a man they say was involved in a slaying on Tuesday.

Logan Police Chief E.K. Harper said the body of Grover Morrison, 88, was found in his home on Stratton Street in Logan at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Harper said police are treating Morrison's death as a homicide, but police are withholding the cause of death pending the outcome of their investigation.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for John Edward Dempsey, 37, of Logan in connection with the killing, Harper said. Dempsey is described as a white male, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds.

Dempsey remained at large as of Wednesday evening. Harper said anyone with information about Dempsey's whereabouts is asked to call the Logan Police Department at 304-752-6535 or the Logan State Police detachment at 304-792-7200.
