ALTA, W.Va. -- A Greenbrier County man went to the back of his trailer, loaded one round into a shotgun and shot a man dead after an argument Tuesday night, police say.

Police have charged Anthony Lee Ramsey, 51, of Alta, with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Brian A. Meadows.

Greenbrier Sheriff Cpl. William K. Nester Jr. was called to an Alta trailer that Ramsey shares with his girlfriend at about 7:30 p.m. in regards to a shooting, according to a criminal complaint filed in Greenbrier County Magistrate Court.

Ramsey was sitting on a cinder block outside the trailer and told the officer "he had just shot someone," according to the complaint.

Nester went inside the trailer and found Mary A. Boggess, Ramsey's girlfriend. Boggess took Nester to the hallway where Meadows was dead and lying face down with a shotgun next to him.

Ramsey allegedly told police that the three had been arguing when Ramsey went to the back bedroom and loaded one round into a 12-gauge shotgun. He said he then came back out "raised the gun and shot one round and hit Meadows," according to the complaint.

Ramsey was being held Wednesday in Southern Regional Jail without bail.
