CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Kanawha County man has been sentenced to probation and community service for his two children's excessive absences from school.

Craig Rogers of Clendenin received the punishment Wednesday in Kanawha County Circuit Court.

Rogers was sentenced to 60 days of probation and 10 days of community service, plus a $100 fine and court costs. Rogers' 10-year-old child has missed 17 days of schools since classes began in August and a 7-year-old has missed 15 days.

Rogers' wife, Callie, did not show up for the hearing and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
