CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police said a man wanted for failure to appear before a Texas court on drug charges was hiding under a false name in South Charleston.
Kanawha County sheriff's deputies and South Charleston police detectives received a tip that James Earl Davis, 37, was working and living in South Charleston under the alias Rodderick Detoti Mitchell.
Davis was wanted for failure to appear before Belle County, Texas, court on a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance.
Davis tried to flee when he spotted police while leaving his job in South Charleston, said Kanawha County Sheriff's Department Cpl. B.D. Humphreys. He was arrested on being a fugitive from justice.
Police allegedly found forged documents related to his false identity.
Davis was being held in South Central Regional Jail awaiting an extradition hearing back to Texas on Tuesday.
