LEON, W.Va. -- Police in Mason County say a woman was swept to her death by floodwaters outside her home.

Sheriff Greg Powers tells WOWK-TV that 50-year-old Jessica Harris of Leon apparently was trying to get to her car to go to work when she was swept away on Wednesday. Heavy rains pounded the state most of the day.

State Police, sheriff's deputies and Leon firefighters searched for the victim for six hours. Her body was found about 100 yards from her home.

Powers says an autopsy is planned and foul play isn't suspected.
