The Intelligencer reports that Kevin Strope was also ordered to served 20 days in jail Friday after he pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges related to the December 2011 discovery of dead and dying cattle on his farm near Cameron.
Law enforcement officials found 10 dead cows and more than a dozen others that were in poor condition.
The 53-year-old defendant told officers the animals had begun to die weeks earlier. He said he hadn't decided whether to call a veterinarian or get rid of the animals.
Thirteen cattle survived.
The judge said he would reconsider the animal-owning ban in two years.
