HILLTOP, W.Va. -- Police in Fayette County arrested two men Friday in connection to a robbery and beating that severely injured one of the suspect's stepfather.

Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said Steven Russell Sullivan, 33, of Oak Hill, conspired with Jeremy Scott Bailey, 33, of Glen Jean, to break into the home of Sullivan's stepfather, Daniel Sullivan, 58, of Hilltop.

On Jan. 29, the two men entered the elder Sullivan's bedroom and beat the man over the head with an electric space heater, Kessler said.

Daniel Sullivan remained hospitalized at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill on Friday.

Deputies charged Sullivan and Bailey with robbery, burglary and assault during the commission of a felony. They are being held in Southern Regional Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail each.

Kessler said the men were identified through numerous tips offered on Facebook and through the department's anonymous tip line.

This home invasion is not related to several similar home invasions reported in Fayette County recently, Kessler said.

"This was an innocent victim who was allegedly targeted by his stepson, who knew that he had prescription drugs in his residence," Kessler said Friday.
