Horses shot near St. Albans

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- One horse is dead and another injured after being shot Saturday evening near St. Albans, according to a Kanawha County sheriff's deputy.

Cpl. Brian Humphreys said deputies responded to a shots-fired call sometime after dark Saturday on Lower Falls Drive near River Park Circle. A man was cited for firing his weapon so close to a residence, according to Humphreys.

On Sunday, the dead horses were reported in the same area. Humphreys said police were questioning the man who was cited Saturday, and others in the area, to see if the incidents were related.

"It's possible [deputies] couldn't see the horses in the dark last night," Humphreys said. "It could be a terrible coincidence for that guy."
