PINCH, W.Va. -- Police detectives believe more than one person entered an elderly woman's home in Pinch, severely injured her and stole valuables Thursday night.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Department Cpl. Brian Humphreys said the 74-year-old woman was recovering at CAMC General Hospital in stable condition on Friday.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers learned of an injured woman at a home along Miller Drive. Deputies arrived and found the woman had opened the door to the suspects, who attacked her and then ransacked her home.

The woman, who lives alone, was found on the floor sometime later by a relative who came to visit. Humphreys said detectives are investigating links between similar incidents in the area and hope to make arrests soon. They were interviewing neighbors Friday.
