Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who hit a police cruiser before leading deputies on a lengthy car chase.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who hit a police cruiser before leading deputies on a lengthy car chase.
Capt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said deputies went to the Rich Oil Station at 2900 Sissonville Drive at about 11:40 p.m. Sunday after a burglar alarm went off. A search of the area turned up a man in a dark colored car on Falcon Drive.
Crosier said the car sped off when deputies approached, hitting the cruiser driven by Cpl. W.C. Moyers. The driver then allegedly ran Sgt. B.E. Borchers off the road.
Moyers and Borchers chased the car through Eden's Fork to Big Chimney, then to Charleston, Crosier said. He said the driver abandoned the car on Cliff View Drive and ran off.
Crosier said deputies discovered the Pontiac Grand Prix the man had been driving was stolen from Bill's Auto Sales in Clendenin on Feb. 28.
Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call Deputy J.M. Martin at 304-357-0169.
