CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Roane County man accused of trading stolen firearms for a sport utility vehicle has pleaded guilty to a federal charge.
Federal prosecutors say 29-year-old Robert Allen Starcher of Spencer entered the plea Wednesday to being a felon in possession of firearms.
Prosecutors say Starcher broke into a camper van in Walton and stole four rifles and two shotguns. He wasn't allowed to have firearms due to multiple prior felony convictions. He then traded the weapons and other stolen items for the SUV.
Starcher faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing was set for Aug. 15 before U.S. District Judge John T. Copenhaver Jr. in Charleston.
