CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston police are trying to find out who shot a man on the city's West Side early Sunday.
Sgt. Tony Hazelett of the Charleston Police Department said Danny Dickerson, 21, of Charleston, was at the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Grant Street at about 12:15 a.m. Sunday when he was shot in the leg, shattering his femur.
Hazelett said there were witnesses to the shooting, but neither witnesses nor Dickerson are cooperating with police.
Hazelett said police found Dickerson's hat at the scene, which allegedly had crack cocaine hidden in it. Police think the incident may be drug-related.
"It wasn't a random shooting," Hazelett said.
Dickerson was in stable condition Monday at CAMC General Hospital. Hazelett asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the Charleston Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 304-348-6480.
