STANAFORD, W.Va. -- A Stanaford man is charged with murder in the killing of his stepfather and attempted slaying of his mother.
The Register-Herald reported Donald Gray Dunn Jr., 23, was being held at Southern Regional Jail after the Saturday shootings.
Sgt. Scott Lilly, of the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department, said Mark McDermott, 47, was shot at close range. He said Johanna McDermott escaped injury when Dunn's pistol misfired.
Lilly said the motive is under investigation.
Dunn faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
