BELLE, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are still trying to figure out how a woman was stabbed Thursday morning near Belle.
A Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatcher said a woman was stabbed three times at a shopping plaza on Quincy Drive just before 8 a.m. Deputies were looking for a suspect, who reportedly ran off.
West Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Baylous confirmed that a State Police helicopter and K-9 unit also assisted with the search.
But Kanawha County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Mike Rutherford said deputies are still trying to piece together what really happened.
"She's changed her story several times," Rutherford said. "There are multiple inconsistencies and statements that she's given."
He said the investigation will continue until deputies sort out the real story.
