Capt. Sean Crosier of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department demonstrates one of two new off-road vehicles recently delivered. The new Polaris UTVs will replace the department's worn-out Kawasaki Mules.
Crosier test-drives a Polaris Ranger, which will safely carry six people and 1,000 pounds of cargo. The other Polaris, a tan military two-seater, can drive through 30 inches of water.
Crosier said the UTVs will be useful in searches and rescues in rural areas, and for hauling equipment for the county bomb squad and SWAT team.
