MARLINTON, W.Va. -- A former Pocahontas County sheriff's deputy is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a child.
Bradley C. Totten of Hillsboro faces up to 20 years in prison. His sentencing is set for Sept. 20.
Special prosecutor Brian Parsons told media outlets Totten entered his plea this week. More than 50 additional sexual abuse charges were dropped in exchange for the plea.
Parsons said prosecutors agreed to drop the other charges so the victims wouldn't have to testify in court. The crimes occurred from 1999 to 2010 while Totten was employed as a sheriff's deputy.
