CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man suspected of passing stolen checks.
Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said Capt. J.S. Bailes first received a complaint about check fraud July 12, after a stolen check was allegedly forged at a grocery store in Cross Lanes. Other checks, allegedly stolen from a local woman and her deceased mother, have been passed in several counties, including a Go-Mart in Teays Valley, Humphreys said.
Forensics experts were able to make an enhanced still image from video surveillance footage of a possible suspect. Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to call Bailes at 304-357-0169.
