WINFIELD, W.Va. -- A Putnam County man who escaped home confinement in June was captured Friday by police in Palm Bay, Fla.
William McCallister, 54, was arrested without incident and awaits extradition back to West Virginia, according to Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese. McCallister removed his tracking bracelet June 22, and it was found on a boat ramp behind the Kroger in Dunbar.
McCallister was serving a five-year sentence for felon in possession of a firearm, plus an additional one-year sentence for a second-offense DUI. He also has two pending sex offender charges and will now face felony escape and destruction of property charges.
