CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston police have arrested a teenager they believe was involved in a pellet gun shooting spree in South Hills earlier this month.
Clayton Deshawn Matheney, 18, of Charleston, went on a shooting spree in South Hills Aug. 2 and 3, shooting out windows on numerous cars in the South Hills area, said Sgt. Tony Hazelett, of the Charleston Police Department.
In all, Hazelett said, 14 cars were hit, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
According to a criminal complaint on file in Kanawha County Magistrate Court, a juvenile who was in the car with Matheney on the night of the shootings told police Matheney was high on marijuana, Xanax and Klonopin as he drove around South Hills, and would laugh as he shot each vehicle.
Matheney, who already was in jail on South Charleston drug charges, was charged with a felony count of destruction of property by Charleston police on Tuesday.
He was in the South Central Regional Jail, with bond set at $25,000.
