VAN, W.Va. -- Police arrested a Boone County man after he allegedly fired more than 10 rounds from a rifle, striking a man several times Friday.
Dale Edward Lowther Jr., 33, of Van, was charged with attempted murder, according to a news release issued by Boone County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Chad Barker.
Lowther allegedly fired more than 10 bullets from a .22 caliber rifle at a truck driven by Gary Hubbard, of Van, along County Route 5 near Williams Mountain.
Hubbard was stuck multiple times in the back and was taken to CAMC General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the news release. Lowther told deputies he fired on the truck after Hubbard ran him over. Deputies believe Lowther lied to justify the shooting, according to the news release.
