CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies released new information Monday about a head-on collision Saturday night that killed an Elkview woman.
Candy Lachea Poling, 28, was killed in the crash on Frame Road. She was driving a 2011 Honda Civic. The car collided with a 2006 GMC Envoy, which was driven by a juvenile whose name is not being released.
The crash happened at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
A crash reconstruction report has been ordered, and the "generation of the report may take a significant amount of time," Cpl. Brian Humphreys said in a news release.
"Due to the involvement of a juvenile driver some information that is normally available for inquiry may be withheld," Humphreys said.
Two other passengers were in the GMC Envoy with the juvenile. The driver and one occupant were taken to CAMC General hospital for treatment.
Poling was a nursing student at the University of Charleston.
"Our deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends," UC officials said in a statement. "A campus service remembering the life of Candy is currently being planned. Information will be shared with students when details are finalized."
