VIENNA, W.Va. -- Parkersburg police say a Wood County woman has been charged with trying to arrange the killing of her husband.
Amy Yvonne Mayhugh, 40, of Vienna, was arrested Wednesday night on a charge of solicitation to commit murder.
Parkersburg police Sgt. Greg Collins says a preliminary investigation showed Mayhugh wanted to have her husband killed to collect life insurance proceeds of up to $400,000.
Collins says police were alerted by someone whom Mayhugh gave an expensive watch as partial payment for carrying out the plan.
Collins says Mayhugh's husband, Keith Mayhugh, was distraught after being told about the charge.Amy Mayhugh was held Thursday on $300,000 bond at the North Central Regional Jail. Jail records didn't indicate whether she has an attorney.
