CHARLESTON -- Fire destroyed a house in Ohley on Monday.
The blaze was reported at a home on Arizona Lane about 8:30 a.m.
Kanawha County Deputy Emergency Services Director C.W. Sigmon said the brother of the man who lived at the house was nearby and saw flames shooting through the roof of the structure. Sigmon said he was able to get his brother out of the house. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Cabin Creek, Chesapeake and East Bank fire departments responded to the blaze, along with a Kanawha County ambulance. Sigmon said the house was a total loss.The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Sigmon said the owner used both a kerosene heater and the burners on his kitchen range to keep the house warm.
