PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Sarah Palin breakfasted with Sen. Kelly Ayotte early Friday morning in an unexpected stop at the beginning of Day 6 of her One Nation bus tour.
Palin endorsed Ayotte in a contested primary election in 2010, choosing the former state attorney general over conservative favorite Ovide Lamontange in a race Ayotte won by less than a percentage point.
Palin dined at the Golden Egg, where staff was given no advance warning of her visit. She sat at a table with Ayotte, Ayotte’s husband, and with her own daughter Piper.
Ayotte did not attend Palin’s clambake on Thursday. She is the highest-ranking sitting official Palin has met with during her East Coast tour so far.
Palin and her family are expected to end the first leg of the tour and head home later today.
