Herman Cain says “black walnut” is more than just a flavor of the week.
“That is great news that says that the flavor of the week might have some substance,” the Republican presidential candidate said Tuesday morning of his surge in polls. “Black walnut isn’t a flavor of the week.”
Cain, who pulled off an upset victory in Florida’s Presidency 5 straw poll recently, suggested in an appearance on Fox News that he will not be fazed if Chris Christie decides to make a bid for the White House.
“So he’ll get a lot of attention, suck up a lot of oxygen for a while,” Cain said of the New Jersey governor, adding, “And at the same time, you’ll see black walnut moving up the charts.”
Cain joked, “I can eat black walnut all the time – it’s not a flavor of the week! It’s not that heavy. You can eat it on the cone or in a cup.”
Sarah Palin had called Cain a “flavor of the week” after his win in Florida, which Cain disputed in an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” comparing himself to Haagen-Dazs’s black walnut flavored ice cream.
The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO also said Tuesday that too many black Americans were “brainwashed” for refusing to even consider voting for a conservative or Republican candidate, but expressed confidence that as the GOP nominee, he would get a “minimum of the third of the black vote — not because I’m black, but because of the solutions I’m putting on the table.”
