Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said Thursday that Gov. Rick Perry’s gaffe at the Republican presidential debate the previous evening shows he doesn’t even know his own agenda.
On Wednesday Perry stumbled badly while trying to name the three government agencies he would to cut if elected president, unable to remember the Energy Department was on his list.
“Blanking on something as crucial as your own three agencies you would eliminate just shows how deficient the whole group of candidates is,” said Wasserman Schultz on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “Rick Perry, you could have some sympathy for him if you said everybody blanks. But to not know you own agenda - there does need to be some conviction.”
The DNC chairwoman also managed to get in a jab at Mitt Romney while at the same time needling Perry.
“We thought there was only one candidate in the race without strong convictions - Mitt Romney - who seems to be all over the place depending on popular opinion at the moment,” said Wasserman Schultz.
