Former gubernatorial candidate Joseph Oliverio dies

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. -- Joseph Oliverio II, a painting company owner who twice ran for governor, has died. He was 55.

Perine Funeral Home in Shinnston says Oliverio died Friday night at his home in Clarksburg.

He started his company, Joseph Oliverio Painting of Clarksburg, when he was 15.

Oliverio ran for governor in 2000 and in 2004, losing both times in the Republican primary.

A memorial mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarksburg with Father Casey Mahone as celebrant.
