WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. -- The city of White Sulphur Springs is offering a fired police chief another job.
The City Council agreed Monday night to make the offer to James Hylton as an assistant police chief at the same pay he made as police chief.
The Register-Herald reported that Hylton didn't attend the meeting and has 30 days to respond to the offer. Hylton doesn't have a listed telephone number and couldn't be reached for comment.
Mayor Thomas Taylor fired Hylton on Feb. 3 after Taylor was reinstated to the mayor's office by a judge's order.
Taylor had resigned in September 2011 and then sought reinstatement, claiming he was pressured into resigning by Hylton and the city recorder.
Hylton filed a lawsuit against the city in June, claiming he was wrongfully terminated.
