CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia's Supreme Court of Appeals is welcoming its newest justice.

The court is holding a Friday robing ceremony for Justice-elect Allen Loughry in its state Capitol chamber.

Voters chose Loughry and incumbent Justice Robin Davis for the two seats on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Justice Margaret Workman will deliver the oath of office to Loughry. His 12-year term begins Jan. 1.

The 42-year-old is new to the bench, but not to the court. Loughry has been a law clerk there since 2003. He was a senior assistant attorney general and a special prosecutor earlier in his legal career.

Loughry joins Justice Brent Benjamin as the Republicans on the five-member court. The Tucker County native also wrote a 2006 book chronicling political corruption and shenanigans in West Virginia.
