Huntington council's Christmas Eve meetings may end

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Huntington's City Council had to meet on Christmas Eve because the city charter doesn't recognize the day as a legal holiday.

Council members plan to amend the charter to prevent that from happening again.

The charter requires the council to meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month.

A proposed ordinance drafted Monday would reschedule meetings falling on Christmas Eve meetings for another day that week, WSAZ-TV reported.
